Terms of Use
Last updated: July 17, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Fault Line mobile applications and related services (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Critical safety notice: Fault Line is an informational service. It reports earthquake data published by official seismic agencies. It is not an official civil-protection system, does not predict earthquakes, and must never be your only source of emergency information. Always follow the instructions of local authorities.
1. The Service
Fault Line delivers earthquake notifications sourced from third-party seismic agencies (including AFAD, KOERI, USGS and EMSC), an earthquake map and list, community features (comments and felt reports), and optional family safety features. Some features require signing in with Apple or Google. Some features require a paid subscription ("Premium").
2. No Warranty on Alerts
- Earthquake data originates from third-party agencies. We do not control its accuracy, completeness or publication speed.
- Notification delivery depends on Apple/Google push infrastructure, your device settings and network conditions. Delivery is not guaranteed, and delays or failures can occur.
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.
- You are responsible for the security of your device and sign-in credentials, and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information. Accounts created with false information or for abusive purposes may be terminated without notice.
4. Prohibited Conduct: Zero Tolerance
The community exists to share real information during emergencies. Abusing it puts people at risk. The following are strictly prohibited:
- Spam: posting repetitive, duplicated, automated or irrelevant content, in any volume;
- False emergency information: fabricated earthquake claims, fake damage reports or content designed to cause panic;
- Obscene, sexual, hateful, threatening, harassing or discriminatory content in any language;
- Advertising or solicitation of any kind, including links, phone numbers or social media handles posted for promotion;
- Impersonation of any person, authority or organization;
- Technical abuse: scraping, reverse engineering, circumventing rate limits or security controls, probing or attacking our infrastructure, or accessing the Service with modified/rooted/jailbroken environments intended to bypass protections;
- Ban evasion: creating new accounts to circumvent a suspension.
5. Enforcement
- Content is filtered automatically and reviewed by moderation. We may remove any content and suspend or permanently ban any account at our sole discretion, without prior notice, for violation of these Terms.
- Bans are enforced at the infrastructure level and apply to the person, not just the account. Creating new accounts to evade a ban is itself a violation.
- We preserve records of violations (including content, timestamps, device identifiers and connection logs) and we reserve the right to share them with law-enforcement authorities and platform providers (Apple, Google) where the abuse is unlawful or endangers users.
- Deliberate interference with an emergency-related service may constitute a criminal offence in many jurisdictions, including under the Turkish Penal Code and equivalent laws elsewhere. We will pursue legal remedies where warranted.
6. User Content and License
You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, moderate, and distribute that content within the Service (e.g. showing your comment or felt report to nearby users). You represent that your content is lawful and does not infringe third-party rights.
7. Premium Subscriptions
- Premium is billed through the App Store or Google Play under their respective terms. Prices are shown in-app before purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, via your store account settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple/Google under their policies; we cannot issue refunds directly.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its name, logo, design, and software, is our property or licensed to us and is protected by law. Earthquake data remains the property of the respective seismic agencies. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease any part of the Service without our written permission.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of life, injury, property damage, data loss or lost profits arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including missed, delayed or inaccurate alerts;
- Our total aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or, if you paid nothing, one hundred (100) USD.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your access to it at any time, with or without cause. Sections 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul (Çağlayan) shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules that may grant you rights in your country of residence.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App or on this page. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
