Why Fault Line

Built for the moments that matter most

Fast alerts are only the beginning. Fault Line keeps you informed and your family connected before, during and after an earthquake.

One accurate alert, from four official networks

Fault Line ingests data directly from AFAD, Kandilli (KOERI), USGS and EMSC, then cross-checks and deduplicates events so you get a single verified alert instead of noise.

  • Seconds, not minutes. Alerts are pushed the moment an event is published.
  • Your rules. Filter by country, region and minimum magnitude.
  • Break through silence. Critical alerts can bypass silent mode and Focus.

Know your family is safe, at a glance

Create a private safety circle with the people you care about. When an earthquake hits, a single glance tells you everyone's status.

  • One-tap check-ins. "I'm safe" reaches your whole circle instantly.
  • Meeting points. Agree on where to gather before you need to.
  • Private by design. Circle data is visible only to its members.

Ground truth from people who felt it

Numbers tell you magnitude. People tell you what it was actually like. Felt reports and moderated comments from users near the epicenter arrive in real time.

  • "I felt it" reports aggregated by city, no precise locations shared.
  • Strictly moderated. Spam and abuse are filtered automatically and banned permanently.
  • Community feed. Follow the conversation around every event in one place.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Fault Line free?

Yes. Earthquake alerts, the live map and community features are free. Fault Line Premium removes ads and unlocks additional customization.

Where does the earthquake data come from?

We ingest data directly from official seismic agencies: AFAD and Kandilli Observatory (KOERI) for Türkiye, USGS for the Americas and global events, and EMSC for Europe and the Mediterranean. Events are cross-verified across sources.

How fast are the alerts?

Typically within seconds of an event being published by the seismic network. Delivery time can vary with network conditions and the reporting agency's own latency.

Does Fault Line predict earthquakes?

No, and neither does anyone else. Earthquake prediction is not scientifically possible today. Fault Line reports confirmed events from official sources as fast as possible.

Does the app drain my battery?

No. Alerts are delivered via push notifications, so the app doesn't need to run in the background or poll for data.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone (iOS 16+) and Android phones (Android 8+). iOS also supports Live Activities and critical alerts for significant earthquakes.
